The signed purchase agreement is the final word. This page explains it in plain language so you know what to expect before you apply.
Step 1: The first vet visit
Book a veterinary exam within 72 hours of the day your puppy arrives, or within three business days. Bring the puppy's records and microchip details. Ask your vet to check the heart, eyes, joints, belly and general health. If the vet finds a serious illness or defect, call Lauren Loftis Moore the same day at +1 805 259 0905 and send the written exam report. Missing this step can cancel the guarantee, so treat it as part of bringing a puppy home. Our home preparation checklist lists it under the first vet visit.
Step 2: What is covered for one year
The guarantee covers severe, life threatening or life altering genetic and congenital conditions that show up before the puppy's first birthday. Examples are severe hip dysplasia that needs surgery, and serious heart, kidney, liver or spinal conditions present from birth or inherited. The condition must be diagnosed in writing by a licensed veterinarian, and Lauren Loftis Moore may ask for a second opinion from an unrelated veterinarian.
Step 3: What happens if there is a covered problem
- Tell Lauren Loftis Moore within two business days of the diagnosis.
- Send the veterinary records and any test results.
- Lauren Loftis Moore reviews the case and may ask for a second opinion.
- If the condition is covered, you receive a replacement puppy of comparable value when one is available, usually from a later litter. The replacement may come from different parents.
Veterinary bills, shipping and travel costs are not covered. Cash refunds are not part of the standard guarantee. Some families ask what a replacement means if a puppy has passed away. In that case a veterinary necropsy confirming a covered congenital cause is needed.
What is not covered
- Parasites and common infections such as worms, fleas, coccidia, giardia and kennel cough
- Injuries, accidents and anything caused by neglect or poor care
- Conditions that develop later in life or come from the environment, including allergies, thyroid problems, skin conditions, cancer, tumors and autoimmune disease
- Minor cosmetic traits that do not affect health
- Temperament and behavior after the puppy leaves
- Show or breeding quality
- A puppy that has been bred, or euthanized without Lauren Loftis Moore being told first
Why some Boxer conditions are not in the one year window
Boxer cardiomyopathy and several other breed conditions often appear after a dog is two or three years old. No breeder can promise they will never happen. That is why we point families to health testing, and why you should read the Boxer health guide and ask to see parent test results before you choose a puppy.
What we ask of you
Keep your puppy on a good diet at a healthy weight, follow your veterinarian's vaccine and deworming schedule, attend yearly exams and avoid hard exercise while the puppy is growing. The feeding guide and puppy care guide show how.
