Are white Boxers albino?
No. White Boxers have pigment in their eyes and nose, which an albino dog would not. The white comes from a gene that controls where color appears, not from missing pigment.
Hearing and sight
Some white dogs in several breeds are born deaf in one or both ears. Ask for a hearing check when you consider a white puppy. You can also test at home by watching whether the puppy turns to a sound it cannot see, and then confirm with your veterinarian.
Sun care
White skin burns. Provide shade, avoid long midday walks in summer and ask your vet about a dog safe sunscreen for ears and nose. This is the biggest day to day difference from other coats.
Are white Boxers allowed in dog shows?
White Boxers can be registered with the AKC, but show rules limit how much white is accepted in the ring. A pet home does not need to worry about that. If you want to show, talk to Lauren Loftis Moore before choosing.
Comparing white with flashy
A flashy Boxer has white markings on top of fawn or brindle, while a white Boxer is mostly white. See the flashy Boxer puppies page if you want some white without the full coat.
