Why reverse brindle looks black
In a normal brindle, dark stripes sit on a lighter base. In a reverse brindle the stripes are so thick that the fawn shows only as thin lines, mostly around the legs, face and belly. In bright sun you can see the tan between the stripes.
Black Boxer puppies and what to be careful about
If a listing promises a solid black Boxer, ask for photos in daylight and for the parents' registration. A dark Boxer is often a reverse brindle, and that is a normal, accepted coat. We describe each puppy plainly so there is no surprise at pickup.
Is the coat harder to photograph?
Yes. A dark coat can hide stripes on a phone camera. Ask for extra photos or a video when you speak with Lauren Loftis Moore, and compare with the lighter brindle Boxer puppies so you know the difference.
Care notes
A black or very dark coat warms up faster in direct sun. Provide shade and fresh water on warm days. For health topics shared by all Boxers, see the Boxer health overview.
Apply for a reverse brindle
