What the application asks, and why
The form asks for your name, email, phone number and the city and state where the puppy will live. That tells Lauren Loftis Moore how to reach you and how far the puppy has to travel. It then asks about your home, your household, any other pets and your experience with dogs. These are not tests. A Boxer is a strong, bouncy, people loving dog, and a puppy that suits a family with older children and a fenced yard may not suit a small apartment with a long workday. Honest answers lead to a better match.
The last part of the form asks which color, sex and line you prefer, whether you have your eye on a particular puppy, how you would like to bring your puppy home and when you hope to have one. If you do not yet have a preference, leave it open. Being flexible usually means a shorter wait. If you are not sure which coat to choose, read the Boxer colors guide first, and if you are curious about the heavier European build, see the European line Boxer puppies page.
How to prepare
Before you apply, it helps to have three things clear in your mind. First, the price range, which is $900 to $5,000 and is explained on the Boxer puppy price page. Second, how the puppy will come home, whether by pickup in San Diego, ground transport for $300 or flight nanny for $1,500, as described on the Boxer puppy delivery and pickup page. Third, who in your household will be home during the day, since Boxers do poorly when left alone for long hours.
What happens after you send it
Lauren Loftis Moore reads every application herself and then calls you. The call is a conversation, not an interview. You can ask about the parents, the puppy's habits, the guarantee and the trip home. After you have spoken, she will tell you the next steps and give you payment instructions directly. Nothing is paid on this website, and applying is free.
A word about timing
A Boxer puppy usually goes home at about eight weeks old. If a litter is expected, the Boxer puppy waitlist page explains how families are contacted. If you would like a puppy that is ready sooner, check the available Boxer puppies page before you apply and mention the puppy's name in the form.
